Cooking with Granny Greek Octopus Stew

At COFFEED in Long Island City, enjoy a cooking and storytelling session with Cooking with Granny’s Caroline Shin and Granny Barbara. Granny Barbara and Caroline will prepare an octopus stew-- a homey, traditional Greek dish that you won’t find in NYC restaurants, but is often set on family dinner tables in Greece. This cooking demo will be interactive -- indeed, you’ll get a chance to handle the octopus, too! And taste it afterwards. As Granny Barbara cooks her octopus stew, we’ll hear tales of Greek immigration and community in old Astoria, Queens. Following the demo will be cookbook swap. Tired of the same old recipes? Browse cookbooks of all cuisines and trade in yours to explore a new world of recipes.
