Baker-cum-artist, Lexie Smith, uses dough as her medium
A true hybrid, Lexie is both a multidisciplinary artist and an accomplished baker—she studied art history and studio art at New York University, and has been an avid writer since she was a child, penning “angsty poetry” and short stories. Bread has become her medium and muse.
Here she is in her Ridgewood home, piping out squiggly charcoal-activated pâte à choux doughs.
"A lot of the places I look to for research purposes for the regional bread specialties that I work with are all in Queens. I just love that I live in a place where I can hop borders just by getting on the train or the bus." --Lexie Smith
