Supporting Queens' Food Community
Edible Queens and their friends, Joe DiStefano, Jonathan Forgash and Drew Kerr, are creating a video series highlighting members of Queens’ diverse food community in an effort to support local businesses through the current crisis. Each video introduces a member of the community and what they need right now, whether that’s takeout orders or contributions to a staff relief fund. Contact tess@ediblequeens.com with any questions.
Video Submission Guidelines:
Please shoot a 30 to 40 second video on your mobile phone––holding it vertically ––anywhere in your restaurant or outside of your restaurant. Answer the following questions:
1. What’s your name, title, restaurant name, and where is it located?
2. What special dishes or promotions are you offering for take-out and/or delivery? Do any of them have a special story, recipe or background? Share that with us.
3. Is there anything you’d like your community to know about what you are doing and how you are getting by?
4. What’s your hope for your restaurant and its community?
And definitely show your food, perhaps people picking it up or taking delivery calls.

We will very lightly edit your video quickly, post it on social media, and then send you a link so you can download the finished version for your use. We will be adding titles on the video with your name, restaurant, location and GoFundMe page if you have one.
Please use #EQSpotlight for all related social media posts.
Some Video Tips:
- Give your phone a good wipe with a microfiber cloth so your lens and screen are smudge free.
- Shoot the video vertically (i.e. as you normally hold the phone) so it will look best on social media.
- Make sure nothing is in the way of your shot, whether you’re doing this as a selfie or somebody else is doing it.
- VERY IMPORTANT: Check the light. It can be beside you or in front of you NOT behind you. If you look like a silhouette, we can’t use the video.
- Restaurant and staff ambiance (noise) is fine, as long it’s not loud and you can be clearly heard.
- Remember to speak slowly.
- Don’t do more than a few takes. Send the one you like the most.
- Don’t worry––there’s magic in editing.
- Show people on your team in the video, if you can. And DEFINITELY show the food.
- Be yourself on the video––let your personality shine.
If you have a GoFundMe page, please email the link back to us as well.
Thank you and please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
